As the title states, after the latest windows update my headphones mic stopped working for some reason. It usually lets me select what to choose for my headset when I plug it (Set it as a speakers, headset, headphones, etc.) but now it doesn't let me do that anymore and my microphone isnt detected at all.

Only my laptop mic works at the moment and it's absolute garbage for gaming. My headset is the Hyper X Cloud Stinger and it's working perfectly fine (Tried it on another device)

Can someone help me out?

It got fixed for me by reinstalling the audio drivers off of the Acer Drivers website. Also, whenever you plug in your headset, don't press the "Save my choice" or whatever button as it eventually bugs out if you plug it in and out again. I hope it gets fixed but right now this solution is working fine for me. Not convenient, but functional.

Try updating your realtek audio driver from here and this might fix your issue.

Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Did you attach an external monitor or so?sound.JPG

if yes, you must switch the device to loudspeaker

I do not have any External monitor plugged in. And my issue is that my acer helios 300 will not recognize the heasdet mic anymore. It was working fine before the windows update came in. Now its not working at all. it only sees the microphone array and stereo mix. Would it work if I used a usb audio adapter instead of a 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter?

So it shows your headset mic in recording devices along with the Microphone array and stereo mix?

I solved the problem after trying a lot of audio driver updates and much of other stuff tried. After this i tried to update my BIOS to 1.13 version and then it worked. My laptop is a Acer Predator G3-571. Hope it help! My realtek driver versions is 6.0.1.8224.
Note: the microfone is assigned to Microfone Array on Sound configuration on Windows 10.
