I have an aspire 5810tz I purchased brand new in 2009, long story short my windows 7 wasn't doing well so I tried to use eRecovery and retain user data. Nothing happened for a few hours and when I checked the screen again I got a 0xc000000f error. eRecovery will now only let me reset to factory settings despite having the boots discs. The problem I have right now is that none of the numbers match anything, my windows 7 key, SNID, and this is the only acer CPU I have ever had. Somehow my acer id account has a 5740 with an SNID that does not match my sticker or the s/n in my bios. I'm trying to find out if I need a win7 boot disc or a special acer repair disc but the numbers on my stickers and bios will not verify in acer's system. I know I registered my laptop, I'm the only user, and I have never bought owned or used any other acer laptops. How can I fix this?

edit - Nothing happened after a few minutes, the source field was blank the time elapsed and time remaining fields were sitting at 00:00 as was the status bar. No turning wheel no buttons were there, no prompts, noises, nothing. That's when it started over with the 0xc000000f error that wouldn't boot windows anymore. I tried going back through the bios to change the boot order and boot from backup discs thumb drive backups and repair tools and my boot discs that windows wouldn't recognize. I looked up the error and it looks like the boot sector or at least the boot manager was deleted or corrupted. I came here to try to get the right eRM media for my laptop to have the best chance at restoration but I can't access it with my numbers. Any help is appreciated.

Try eRecovery again while trying to save your personal file using the ALT+F10 cold boot method. Press and hold the power button for 5secs or till the machine completely shuts off. Then turn it back on again and immediately press and hold the ALT key while tapping the F10 key till the recovery screen re-appears. If it fails again, try it one more time. Jack E/NJ
