The DVD drive on my Aspire has a driver error. Can't get it to work. Tried all the troubleshooting.

I'm not sure this is the right forum - but I have an Aspire laptop. A few months ago my CD/DVD RW stopped working and it said that the driver was disabled. I have been trying for months to get it to work using every site I could find. So, I gave up and got an external one. Tonight I hooked it up - it won't work and I get the same error.

A driver (service) for this device has been disabled.  An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)

Try uninstalling the drivers in Device Manager for the optical drive and rebooting.

Can you see the drive in Windows Explorer?

Is the device listed in Device Manager?

What specific issue are you having?  Any error message?
