Hi everyone,

I have Aspire A515-41G labtop. I bought a Samsung 970 Evo 250GB. Firstly I installed the SSD but both the bios and windows 10 were not detected it. After that, I sent back the SSD to technical support. They said, it is broken and they sent a new one. I installed that new 970 Evo but it is still not detected by bios and windows.

Does my laptop not support M.2 NVMe SSD? Or could there any broken in my laptop port?

Please help me. Thanks in advance.

I have a different model but I installed an M.2. My M.2 is a Corsair and I used their cloning software. I believe Samsung has software to clone your drive. I don't own your M.2 so it may be in the documentation. If not go to their support site.

This may help and may not, but this is my experience.

When you physically install the M.2 it is completely blank. So I didn't even attempt to look for it in the BIOS. However, I remember after first physically installing the blank M.2, Win10 wasn't listing it as one of the drives and that got me a little concerned.

As an aside, after the blank M.2 was installed and before even attempting to clone I made sure Windows 10 was up to date on the HDD with all the updates completed and then I temporarily turned off automatic updates until I finished the clone.

Then I ran the cloning software to clone the HDD to the M.2. The cloning software did detect the M.2, so I ran the clone and after a while, I got a notification the clone was successful. Then I rebooted, went into BIOS which gave me the option to boot with the M.2 and then Windows 10 loaded successfully with the M.2.

Firstly thank you for your answer. Yes you are right Samsung has Data Migration software for cloning. Also I installed it and run. But it was not detected the SSD too.

    Thank you again.

Looks like the a515-41g only supports m.2 ssd's with sata interface and not nvme. I'm really disapointed with the way Acer provides the specs for their products, i have just bought a a515-41g-1480 and discovered that its RAM works in single channel at really low frequency, oposite as what is said in the official store page.
