Screen going crazy, goes black and then restarts. What could be the cause?

Hi,

I would appreciate any assistance on the matter. I have a Acer Travelmate 4600. The battery have been dead for a while now, but have been running without issues while the power is plugged in.

Yesterday started displaying weird lines on the screen, then the screen goes black, and the laptop restarts. I have removed the power cord as well as the battery, held in the power button for 60 seconds and plugged in only the power cord. The laptop starts, stays on for a few seconds and then does the same again. Over and over.

S/N: LXT990607153011314EM01

Not able to get any more information out of the laptop as it doesn't stay on long enough. Even in safemode.

Hi BlackShadow01991,
Please go to BIOS and check if there are weird lines on that screen as well.Follow the following instructions to go to BIOS.
1) Connect the charger.
2)Press the power button ones and keep tapping F2 multiple times until the BIOS screen comes up. Check how long the computer stays on, on this screen.
3) After 10mins or so if its still on and you do not see any lines, Press F9 one time.
4) Hit Enter.
5) Press F10 one time. Hit enter.
6) It should restart computer normally.
If you see the abnormal lines on the BIOS it means there is a hardware issue. Will need to contact acer repair center for warranty repair options.
