Can I use a M.2 slot for the HTC Vive Wireless adapter + M2 to x16 PCIE cable on Acer Predator?

I have a Acer Predator-  Part Number: NH.Q1EAA.003 - GX 792.

The HTC Vive Wireless Adapter normally requires a PCIe slot, but I was hoping I could find some additional info for my laptop.  I believe the wireless adapter is using Intel's Wigig, but not 100%.  Has anyone used this adapter, or used their M.2 slots for anything else...other than their SSD?

When i check the info about the wireless adapter for the HTC vive, it just requires the PCIe slot to connect. SO you can connect it without making any changes on the BIOS

Thanks for the detailed info, but doesn't answer my question . Is it possible to use the wireless adapter for the HTC vive with the bios in it's current state?

  • If your SSD is a m.2 NVME then yes a straight adapter from the NVME slot to a PCIE x16 would work.. although im not sure how you would route the cable to the exterior of the unit.

Ok thanks for the info. I'll probably give a shot sometime in the near future and update here.

Ok, good to know. I'll probably just drill or see if I can close the lid partially. The laptop is pretty elevated as is, but I would have to see though.

Keep in mind altering the exterior will definately void the warranty.
    (Especially drilling holes lol)

Something to note is that on the Predator 17, the battery will not charge if the bottom cover is not on. Just an FYI.
