any way to enable keyboard backlight on permanently, it turns off after 30 seconds its gets off in the dark and it is very irritating i am thinking about what to write and the light turns off, any solution to fix this ? i need it to be turned on always or increase the timeout, more battery will be used i know but it doesn't matter. i think the choice should be in the customer's hand Acer should give settings to choose as everyone uses it for different purpose and at different time.

Than i guess There is no way to make the backlight stay on, while the device is on battery power only. It will be on only while you are typing.

Its not just Acer - I have Asus and Dell, and all work the same way - turning off after a period of inactivity.

yeah I'm having this problem to I updated to bios 1.22 and then 1.24 and now the back late is turning off every 30 seconds and it's driving me up the f****** wally.
I'm so ***** off that the back lights turning off it makes it almost useless to even have a backlight in the first place.
they've got to fix this I went to the Acer support and all it says is hit fn+f9
they've got to fix this or give us an option to be able to control whether or not the backlight x out because while why have a backlight in the first place?

It's not like LED lights really sad that much power, I got this laptop on Friday and I'm about to return it because of this issue it's just retarded as all hell.

unfortunately it seems like it's controlled by the bayou so I don't think that my efforts going through the registry or going to locate anything but I was able to find a red key under wow64 OEM predator sense kbbacklight is set to 1, I've tried sending it to 2 3/4 and 0 and rebooting after each but that's not helping at all.
I mean if they were going to actually do something like this then they should have given us an option in either the by us or in predator sense.

Fixed. Even with the latest BIOS (1.26) the keyboard doesn't turn off after 30 seconds. How I managed to fix this? Easy. Turn off your PC. Turn it back on, and hold the F2 key to acces the BIOS. Once in the BIOS, look for somthing like Keyboard light timeout (I don't remember the exact name) and disable it. Restart, and you're good to go. While using battery, acts exactly like before (In 30 secs turns off to save battery) and plugged in, it NEVER turns off.

The backlight battery saving option was added to the bios after 1.22 (if im not mistaken im still on 1.20 myself so i never suffered from that issue) and on 1.25/26 it was added an option to keep in on in the bios and also on the new predator sense there should be the same option available (depending on each variant)

I found a solution, go to BIOS then in Mains tab you ll find keyboard timeout section, set it as disabled then KB light ll be turned on and off with F9 without timeout function

What laptop model do you use? My Predator 300 does not have that option in bios while my Nitro 5 has.

sri369 the disable timeout feature was introduced in the latest bios if im not mistaken 1.24+ (not really sure) im still on 1.20 and not moving up so i never faced the timeout issue that was implemented on 1.22 or so :)

If you open Predator Sense, there should be a little gear shape (universal settings button) on the top right. In the settings it will say 'backlight turn off after 30 secs', turn that off.
