Check whether the charger is working. If you think the charger is working than perform these steps

power drain: Just check the back of the unit, you can find a pin hole , unplug the charger and turn off the unit. now put a paper clip in the small pin
hole and press and hold it for 30 sec.
BIOS default: After power drain is done, power on the u nit, but as soon as you power on the unit keep pressing the F2 key so that it take you to BIOS
page. Press F9 and press Enter than press F10 and press Enter. the unit will restart

My average v5-571 doesn't have a reset hole. I've tried unplugging and removing the battery, then holding the power button for 10 to 60 minutes. After this , plugging in or using battery it still doesn't start. When trying the blue light flashes and clicks and the goes solid for a few seconds then nothing.
    what do you suggest ?

First press and hold the power button to turn off the blue light. Than remove battery and press and hold power button for 30 sec and than connect everything and check. Even after that it dont work than it should be a hardware issue

Hi @Jack22 Thanks for the reply

I tried what you suggested without plugging the battery back in so just mains and it worked, I even tried powering down and back up and it still worked :-)
This morning I tried to power up and hit the same issue, mains had been in with no battery. gave your solution a couple of goes and nothing, so I put the battery in with no mains and it powered up.
Tonight I'll power it down and unplug the mains but leave the battery in and see if it starts tomorrow.

The only other variables are a USB dongle for an external keyboard/mouse and an acer ethernet/vga cable which i use to extend the screen.

p.s. if this is a hardware problem, what would the fix be ?

    Thanks again for your help

So after leaving it powered down, with the battery in but no mains, it started yesterday morning. I then plugged the mains in and it started a few times during the day.
I then left it plugged into the mains with the battery in and switched off over night (this is what I normally do) and it started this morning ! and has started during the day as well.

So it seems it need to run off the battery for a short while, with no mains, with the process @Jack22 described at the very beginning of the process too.
I'll let you know if it fails again ...

    Thanks :-)

    Hi all,
The problem is back and now it won't power up even after repeated attempts at resetting it as described above.
Can anyone explain what is actually causing the issue?  Is it a physical button issue, or broken link/connection?
any links to diagrams or videos would be useful. P.s. I have a looked and will continue to do so....
p.s. @Jack22 thanks for your help earlier, any thoughts on how to look at a physical fix?
