I used this laptop to play games for half a year with no issues, however I recently shifted this laptop onto a little used desk in the living room due to having bought a new monitor, and ever since then playing games on it has not been smooth. Playing Assassin's creed origins there is noticeable stutter every minute or so, playing less demanding games like Battle Chasers there will be a freeze for a second every now and then. Then a few times Assassin's creed and tomb raider just plain out crashed. I'm thinking this may have got to do with me being careless in not cleaning out the dusty desk before i put my laptop there. Could dust buildup in the laptop itself cause stuttering in game? My temperatures for cpu is below 90 but GPU temp was at 80 while gaming.

It can if the dust buildup is causing irregular airflow which can confuse the thermal sensors.

Even if a laptop is operating under 90 C (thermal throttle) the lesser the temps the better it performs.

For example my Helios 500 runs at about 68 C with auto fans but setting max fans (64) increases benchmark performance by 4%.

So dust only affects thermal performance? Like if my laptop has always been operating at that temperature, then it's unlikely to be dust causing the previously absent stuttering? It really sucks that I can't play games smoothly now. Any tips on settings I can change to try to fix this? I also realise its only after I tried hooking up my laptop to an external monitor that this problem started.

So does the stuttering only occur when on the external?
Or does it happen all the time now that you've tried the external?

It happens all the time now after i've tried the external monitor. It's not really stuttering, more like dropped frames.

The crashing I was talking about was actually blue screens where it says your pc ran into a problem. I thought it was because I undervolted while playing games, it seems like now my pc is idling and this still happens.

What does the blue screen error say?
    "WHEA Uncorrectable Error"?

Your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart.

Thats the main wording of a BSOD yes..
..but there is an error code at the bottom of every BSOD that helps diagnose the issue.

BSODs havent occurred again, now I am crashing in assassin's creed origins and rise of the tomb raider. The game just exits to the desktop with no error message.
