Since almost the fisrt day, I have been getting a blue screen with error 0xc00000e9 each time I reboot the laptop. At the begining it was not a serious problem but then some updates became stucked and trying daily to reinstall without success. I did a full recovery without success, the error still there. In the device's adminiatration I got an error in the secure platform2.0 driver. No chance to update anywhere. I decided to make a fress install of Windwos 10. No problem but no success. Error still there and problem with the driver, still there. I upgraded BIOS to last version (1.17) ... no success. I suspected there was a hardware problem. But as I am quite stubborn, I decided to change boot mode in BIOS into legacy. I was able to reinstall Windows 10 and I GET RID OF the error. But now, there is NO WAY to access BIOS and modify anything. I have done a battery reset 3 or 4 times without success in accessing BIOS. Rebooting from windows settings does not work. <F2> does not work at no moment of the booting process. Any help??? My laptop is still covered by guarantee and if there is a hardware problem I want to get it fixed!

Desligue o notebook e pressione o botão de energia por cinco segundos e quando você ligá-lo pressione f2 e teste!
It is possible that quick startup of power options is enabled! On some computers there is an even faster boot called faster fast boot (I think that's the name) and it prevents the user from entering the bios and the solution in this case is to restart the notebook and then press f2!

Sorry egydiocoelho. I already did option 1 (battery reset) several times before posting; no way to access BIOS with <F2> even BIOS gets stucked if I keep pressed <F2> before and after ACER logo. Fast boot was activated in Windows10. I removed it but got no improvement. I know it is also activated in BIOS, but when I had a UEFI boot, I could enter BIOS with <F2>.
Morover, I have tried to flash BIOS with ACER utility ... I got a message saying that the flash image has the wrong size. I used different BIOS versions but alway got the same message.
  • Are there any drivers with a problem in the device manager (intel management)? I'm asking this because once my notebook was also locking to get into the bios getting a white trace in the upper left corner of the monitor and the problem was the intel mangagement!
Try this: copy an image of windows 10 to the pendrive and then press f12 and choose the pendrive! In the installation of windows 10 press shift + f10 and enter, giving enter in each command: diskpart, list disk, sel disk x, clean, convert gpt (single that works in uefi mode), create partition primary, format fs = ntfs quick, assign! Exit the installation and try to enter the bios!

Thanks. First of all, I cannot enter BIOS since I changed the boot mode from UEFI to legacy. So, no sense to execute "convert gpt".
Second, I would like not to re-create partitions or format them, because it is my wife's laptop and after one week she is working fluently with it (if you are married, you will understand me).
As I told, there is a problem with TPM, logical because TPM is no working on legacy boot. The rest of drivers work flawlessly.

There is a new version of bios (1.18) for specter and meltodown fixes! Make sure this solves your problem! However an update of bios is risky! Do it with caution! I do not take any responsibility for any damage!
Uninstall any installed antivirus and disable windows defender; disconnect any peripherals connected to the usb ports; leave the notebook connected to the power and charge the battery!

  • Can you inform the manufacturer of the tpm? I think the fact that the tpm driver is in trouble is preventing you from having access to the bios!
Try this too: go to the device manager and then uninstall and delete the tpm driver and restart the notebook! Let windows search for the correct driver!
Then try this to clear the tpm chip: Go on start; settings; updating and security; windows security; device.
Under Security Processor, select Security Processor Details.
Select Security Processor Troubleshooting, and under Clear TPM, select Clear TPM.

The device must be restarted for the process to complete.

I will try the BIOS update later.
Under Windows security => device I get only: Nucleus isolation, and under details "Memory integrity" in OFF. No troubleshooting options, maybe because TMP.INF driver is not working!

It is not possible to install new BIOS 1.18. The installer says the image has a wrong size. It is logical because under legacy BIOS, the size is smaller!!!

Regarding TPM driver is from Microsoft, version 2.0. There is no update no where for this driver. Instead of removing I have disabled it. It did not work either under UEFI boot.

Any other idea to Access BIOS???
  • Have you tried reinstalling the same version of bios (1.17) that is on your computer? One way to reset the bios would be to remove the rtc battery from the notebook, however I did not find the exact location of it in the service guide! This battery is the size of a coin and can usually be picked up and reattached! However, on some models it is soldered on the motherboard!
    Rtc battery example:

Yes, I have tried to install different BIOS versions but I always get the same error: invalid image size
I would prefer not to open my wife's laptop ......
  • Make sure that by connecting an external monitor to the notebook, the bios image appears on the monitor!

For anyone that still has this problem. I had the same problem with a Swift 7. Don't know if all the steps are required, but this is what I did.
First I pressed the power-button for 2 minutes when the power cable was out, then I finally was able to boot from an USB-stick. I then tried to update the BIOS from the Windows 10 installation media. It always said that it was the wrong BIOS for the hardware.
Then I opened up the bottom of the laptop and disconnected the battery. Then I realized that there was a battery reset button, so just in case I also pressed that one, since I did not find any CMOS battery.
I guess that I would not have had to open the laptop, just press the reset button with a paperclip.
After this I was able to enter BIOS with F2. I checked the settings and now it was set to UEFI again. I rebooted and I got into Windows! Then I updated the BIOS, since the TS did try 1.17, I did upgrade to 1.15 instead. Before I was not able to get the Windows update 1803 to work, but after this it worked with no 0xc00000e9 errors.
    Hope this helps someone.

To enter bios with acer swift 7 : FN + F2

To enter to bios only with F2 switch from "special key" to "function key" in bios setting..

    A+
