Hi folks,

I just bought a 12S off ebay and it seems nice except for the keyboard. It's got the embedded number keys in the keyboard. When press FN + F11, the keys on the right side of the keyboard become numbers when you press them. But when I disable num lock (FN + F11), the keys in the num lock portion of the keyboard (U, I, O, P J, K, L, M) don't type letters when you press them. They seem to either engage the backlight on the keyboard or a couple of them give you symbols.

Anybody know what's going on with this?

Fn + F9 is a hot key to enable or disable keyboard backlight and for a few units there are special character and in order to enable the special characters you would have to use Fn + F11. If you would like to disable the special character feature then you have to press Numlock.

This is basically default feature of keyboard.

IIRC the original Switch 12 was in Fn mode by default, pressing the Fn+F11 actually gives you a F11 key press, pressing without the Fn key gives the F11 keyboard toggle. It's been quite a while since I last booted mine but it might have been more than a toggle, cycling through number pad, the international chars, then back to normal.

Well, there's something else going on. Because the issue happens randomly and I can fix it by removing the screen and re-seating it into the keyboard dock. It's not about the numlock being engaged. I can turn that on and off using FN + F11.
