I know this is probably a normal issue with many laptops and I dont expect to get perfect sound from it without headphones, but I feel like I should atleast be able to listen to youtube videos on normal to low volume on speakers without distortion. You know when you press the windows volume slider it makes a sound? Even at 35 % volume it starts to sound bad.

So my question is more like the title says, is it normal for this model? I know it also happens on other laptops but ive always thought it was because they were old, cheap and bad. My guess is that it's a hardware limitation, it feels like it doesnt distort as much when I hold the chassi together and it's on a stable surface. (Yea I tried to reinstall the drivers, didnt change anything)

It is not normal for the laptop which you got. The sound be perfect when you increase the sound.  But there might be other issues

    Old or Faulty Speakers

If your laptop is an older model, your speakers could simply be fading with age. Their internal components could be loose or worn, and they may need replacing. This may also be the case if you experience audio troubles regardless of what you try to play. If only one of your speakers is having an issue, there’s an even greater chance that the problem is hardware-related. If this is the case, you can consult the manufacturer’s user guide for your specific laptop and try replacing the speakers yourself. Another option is to take the laptop in for repairs

    Try these steps too

    Step 1:

Run Playing Audio troubleshooter and check if it helps.

    a. Open the Play Sound troubleshooter by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel.
    b. In the search box, type troubleshooter and then click Troubleshooting.
    c. Under Hardware and Sound, click Troubleshoot audio playback.
    d. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    Open playing audio troubleshooter

    Step 2:

Try disabling the audio enhancements and check if that helps.

    a. Type sound by clicking the Start button, and clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type sound, and then click Sound.
    b. On the Playback tab, click Speakers, and then click Properties.
    c. Click the Enhancements tab, and then select the Disable all enhancements check box.

If you don't see an Enhancements tab in the Speakers Properties dialog box, those features are not available for your speakers and this procedure is not applicable to your computer.

If disabling audio enhancements solves the audio problem you're experiencing, this typically indicates that your audio driver needs to be updated.
