I am looking for some advice or help in updating the video drivers on our Aspire 5745G. Mainly I am wanting to update the Intel portion of the driver...the nVidia driver seems to be fine. I am just a little confused, as in Device Manager it does show the Intel HD adapter, and showing it using the nVidia drivers. We are using the "switchable" nVidia drivers currently.
When I switch the video to "save power" mode the laptop shows to be running on the Intel driver, namely driver 8.15.10.2104. This particular driver version is not allowing Windows Update to give us SP1 for Windows 7 due to Windows 7 SP1 instability with Intel 8.15.10.2104. Thus the reason I want/need to update that portion of the video drivers. We need SP1!
I have found Intel VGA version 8.15.10.2202 available on the Acer website. In order to properly install this driver, and not wrecking the laptop, should I change the display mode in BIOS from "switchable" to "discrete", then install the Intel driver only? Or should I also install the newest "switchable" nVidia driver from the Acer site after installing the Intel driver?
Thanks in advance for any advice, help or suggestions!
