The hard drive on my Aspire E5-575 appears to be dying, (out of the 1 year by 2 months) got a couple of error messages about damage, so I backed up my profile to a thumb drive. And went to install a new drive with Win 10 but when I powered up the laptop I got a "no bootable drive found" message.  Do I need to change the bios for the new drive spec? Make other changes

The new drive must be GPT-partitioned, not MBR-partitioned, for the UEFI bootstrapper to recognize it as a bootable drive. It'll probably boot if you change UEFI boot to Legacy BIOS but that's not recommended. Jack E/NJ

  • Using a pendrive with the windows 10 operating system, turn on the notebook and press f2!
Select the uefi mode and put the pendrive first in the boot section! Save when you leave! When you start the installation, press shift + f10 and type diskpart, list disk, sel disk x, clean, convert gpt, and then proceed with the installation!
