I intend to buy this laptop but I am a bit disappointed by the many issues reported here.
Honestly, would you guys recommend buying this laptop?

I owned 2 Acer laptops till now and never had an issue.

Thank you!

Honestly: i've owned an Acer Aspire 5750g, i5, with a 2gig vram nvidia since 2010 and i've been very pleased - would even call myself an Acer fanboy.

That and the current bang for buck evaluation (on paper) led me to buy one and recommend it to my girlfriend as well.
    We now own a PH317-52 and a PH315-51 respectively.

So far my experience to be completely honest is...ambivalent.

The specs for the price point doesn't let me get a refund or do a return and get another one (just yet), but:

The overheating shouldn't happen out of the box. Yes we can keep it under control with setting a CPU cap and undervoltimg, sacrificing a bit of performance for stability, but thatstnot how it should be...still that wouldn't be reason enough for me not to get this model - despite being somewhat disappointed...

But the black screen issue is really not something we can live with long term. We, who bought the unit already, some of us are patient enough to wait for action from Acer on the matter (others rushed for refunds, exchanges and consumer protection reports).

But if you're pondering wether you should get it - especially if you can afford to wait - that's what i'd do, for a week or two: wait.
Meanwhile looking for a plan B.

I've not found any other laptops quite at this bang for buck value but rather than getting the rushed, faulty unit (wether it'll turn out to be a software or hardware issue) till they come out with a solution for it, the frustration is not worth it if you're not already in this predicament...

I bought  from Flipkart, India. So far it is running pretty good. No black screen issue. No freezing. Games are running smooth. Overheating was a problem (90 decrees for CPU), but after I kept the laptop in a more ventilated place temp dropped to 75-80 while gaming. I recommend this product once Acer officially solves whatever issue people are facing with 8th gen CPUs.

Thank you. I'll wait and see how this plays out the following month. If by the end of july the issues will still be here, I'll go for option 2, Asus.
