recovery drive problem

Hi all, and thankyou in anticipation of any help that you may be able to offer.

On multiple occasions I have attempted to create a recovery drive using Acer's recovery management app. The computer is an Acer 5600u AIO and I am using a 16gb USB memory stick. I have also selected the option to copy the recovery partition. The process proceeds normally until the progress bar gets to about 98% and then it stalls. I wait for about 4 hours and then give up. I have repeated the process after formatting the USB to FAT32 exFAt and NTFS but to no avail and with the same outcome. When unchecking the option to copy the partition drive I have, however, been successful. Is there a solution to my problem? And is it really necessary to copy the partition drive or is this just best practice?

Many thanks

Steve

    update

I have since been able to resolve this problem. when formatting the usb stick to fat32 i unchecked the box for the quick format option. After a full format (lengthy process) the recovery drive creation proceeded without a hitch.

I am having exactly the same problem as Steve with my Aspire v3-571. Have tried 4 times with same result using a 32gb Kingston usb drive that initially had never been use before. Emailed Acer tech support but all I got in response was a reply with links to stuff on their site which I had already read - not very helpful! Anyway I will try the solution suggested above but, quite frankly, don't hold out a lot of hope.

Tried doing a full format of the 32gb Kingston usb drive but it did not help. All was copied until the progress bar got to about 98% (just as for previous attempts) & then it just hung there. If anyone cannot suggest another solution I will be happy to try it..

A little late in the day but this may help others who come across this thread.  I had the same problem with an Aspire E1-571.

The solution can be found here:-

Thanks, Laplander, I will try this. Tech support eventually gave up & suggested I return laptop under warranty. Did not want to do that & be without laptop for such a minor problem.

I tried technical support but they were unable to help. In the end they suggested that I send the laptop back under warranty or pay £58!!!!! for a copy of the recovery drive on a usb stick.

Brilliant! The solution suggested by Laplander worked for my Acer V3-571. I am delighted.
