About a week ago, my computer did an update. When I turned it on the next morning, it went to the sign in/password screen. It wouldn't accept my password which is correct. Also there was no internet connection. I know the internet is working as I have another computer right next to it that is connecting fine.I have searched and tried various fixes but no luck. One of the things I was trying was to get to command prompt. I got to command prompt screen but when I click on it then it says choose an account but when I do it wants password so I'm right back to my problem. I would greatly appreciate any help. I have limited knowledge of these things. Just noticed I posted this in laptop forum.

If this was originally a factory installed Win10 machine, shut the machine completely off. Then turn it back on and immediately press and hold the ALT key while tapping the F10 key. A factory recovery screen shouild appear similar to that shown in the laptop video, should work on your machine as well. Try refreshing the system first rather than doing a full factory reset. Please check if the network adapter is listed under "network adapter" in device manager. If listed uninstall the network adapter driver and restart the computer and have Windows automatically install the latest driver upon restart.
Press Windows key  + X and select device manager.
    Expand network adapter.
Right click on the driver and uninstall it.
Restart the computer and check the functionality."

In the search box on the taskbar, type Command prompt, press and hold (or right-click) Command prompt, and then select Run as administrator > Yes.
At the command prompt, run the following commands in the listed order, and then check to see if that fixes your connection problem:
Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.
Type netsh int ip reset and press Enter.
Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.
Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter.
Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.

Let us know the status of the issue. We will be glad to assist u further.

Is it possible you were tricked, like me :(
Windows latest update changes the logon screen to pin rather than password.
Choose the right of the two options below the password box to enter the password and left to enter the pin.
Windows will now try and force us to use the pin instead of the password.

Thanks to all who replied. I finally got to the refresh screen (thanks, JackE) and after refreshing all is well.
