My laptop has been showing a white  screen, connected it to an external monitor then it started working. This made me  think it was the LCD display  which I am getting replaced soon. After opening up a game (TF2) the monitor started showing a black screen as well. Now when  I turn on the laptop it won't even show the acer splash screen. I've tried every trouble shooting tip I know, with no success.

Sorry for bad English

Press and hold the power button for about 5 secs till the machine completely shuts off. Then turn the machine back on and ***immediately*** start tapping the F2 key to try to access a BIOS menu screen. Do you see a BIOS menu screen on the LCD or monitor? Jack E/NJ

No, the BIIS will not show either

Sorry, the integrated graphics adapter chip on the mainboard seems to have failed. It's possible a mainboard solder reflow might fix the problem but it would be very time-consuming. Jack E/NJ

But why would that happen just by opening up a game?

    >>>My laptop has been showing a white  screen, connected it to an external monitor then it started working>>>

Your very first comment in this thread and now the black screens on both the monitor & internal screen led me to believe this. The game was might have been a coincidence or put extra power stress on the adapter and it just failed. I think your internal screen is probably OK. You can try to toggle both screens on with the FN+F5 and FN+F6 toggle key combos but the fact that there is no BIOS menu screen is not a good indication the graphics adapter is still functioning. The BIOS may indicate an error beep code when it's first turned on. Do you hear any beeps on turning it on? Jack E/NJ

OK, I think I understand now. No, I don't hear any beeps but sometimes I see an orange disk activity light flashing with a 1 second pause in between ( I think that's what it's called, the light beside the charging indicator) I read that I should try to take out the CMOS battery, turn it on, wait a minute, and then put it back in. I did that with no luck.

If it's orange 1 sec on and 3 sec off, that means the system is in standby mode! Jack E/NJ
