Suggestions Please re Intermittent touchpad dropout on ES1-420-55H6

Touchpad has developed habit of not responding. On off on off. Very frustrating.
Problem began about 2 months ago on laptop purchased July 2016.
Tried running Firmware_Synaptics_1.17_A_A, but no engagement with the machine.
Apart from the touchpad, this is an outstanding laptop.

Hi,
Try to uninstall the touchpad drivers and reinstall them. Try to open Device Manager, right-click (or press and hold) the touchpad driver, and select Uninstall. Restart your device and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver
