After a recent update I can no longer get this display on screen.I am now having to rely on the TOGGLE (beep) facility, which is of some use,but find it annoying especially when having to use passwords as often I don't know if I am in CAPS/NUMBER LOCK MODE or not.Have tried Microsoft and the net and lots of example screenshots of how I can restore this, but the problem is I can't find them on my system, and any 'free' downloads aren't free and in any event I am reluctant to download stuff for obvious reasons. Not the end of the world if I can't get this back, but I found it really useful.Have also tried the ACER site, but to no avail.Any suggestions. This has happened before after an update, but I managed to restore it somehow, but at present I just cannot find anywhere for the setting I need to use.

    Hi,
Could you please post the model of your laptop.
Have you tried enabling Turn On Toggle keys? If not, give this a try:http://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-the-caps-lock-num-lock-or-scroll-lock-warning-in-windows-7

Hi and thanks for getting back to me.Yes I have the TOGGLE keys locked and I get the beep,as I mentioned when I posted, but I would rather have  the on screen display back.I did the update last week and since then this has disappeared.I have seen a screenshot of how to restore/enable this, but I just cannot find it anywhere. When the same happened sometime ago,I do recall seeing 'screen resolution' settings, which I think might have been within INTEL GRAPHICS,but if it was,I can't find it now.As far as I can tell the TOGGLE key was to replace the LED/Display and possibly when you have the TOGGLE Key enabled it might iver ride the on screen display, but of course until I can get the on screen back I won't know.Sorry for going on a bit-I am no way a 'geek' and can only explain things like this is in fairly basic terms.I will try your suggestion and get back to you.My laptop model is an Aspire F15 followed by F5-571-320G.I hope this is what you wanted or is it the SN?.

Just tried your suggestion and as I thought I have already tried the download and it didn't work first time and if all it does is to tell me about the TOGGLE Key I already have that-IT IS THE ON SCREEN CAPS/NUMBER LOCK I AM TRYING TO GET BACK.

    Hi,
You could try reinstalling the Quick Access Application, download it from Acer support site, uninstall the current application from Control panel-> Programs, then install the downloaded Application.

brummyfan2-well I have no idea how,but after downloading your suggestion,it still did not work how I wanted it to i.e have the visual display.BUT,and it is a big BUT, I then turned OFF (unticked)the TOGGLE box and lo and behold, the visual display came back. Now,knowing my luck,it might disappear again as quickly as it came back,but.....Microsoft support were useless and it is so annoying that they do an update and so many people are affected and they offer no support. So once again, massive thanks and I just hope something like this doesn't happen again, but a previous update also did the same, but I think I might be able to solve it quicker in the future,The beep was okay, but having to have the speakers on and getting the noise  of advert video's is so annoying that I like to have it on mute, unless I'm playing some fav tunes.
BTW the the reimaging download costs, and I don't like paying for something that might not work.

Well in this case, you are a STAR.(I had previously downloaded the software you mentioned, but it didn't work. But that might have been because I did not uncheck the TOGGLE button.Possibly you can't have both at the same time?.Not going to recheck it to try though-took me long enough and I am not going to chance it).

If it happens again, you know the drill, it may have been a glitch in the software.

Seems too coincidental for it being a 'glitch' but who knows. As I said,it happened before after an update, but that was sometime ago and have had updates since then. But,yes,I know the drill, but hopefully it won't happen again and that your suggestion might help others if it happens to them.

Thanks for posting the results and as you said, it will be useful to others who may have the same problem in future :)
