I brought my PC 5 days ago now.  Was getting to know it when windows downloaded 2018 update 1803.  I could not find My PC and although File Explorer is on my desktop when I try to open something it flikers then disappears.  The path is from Quick Access.  I noted when following instructions on different fixes from microsoft and other fixes on internet that My Pc seems to be linked to Acer.  Im not a whizz pc person at 69.  Would love to fix this problem as I cant really use my pc.  Even followed a re-boot to not avail.  I dont want to unistall and re install Creators 2018 update as I think it could be that Acer controls my Computers C drive

    Hi,
As it's a new laptop I hope that you don't have any important data in the laptop, so you could try a reset, please follow the method described in the link under "In notebook mode" ( it means using the keyboard attached).

Thank you brummyfan2 for your response.  I have been reading the manual for the Acer pc I've purchased.  It seems my pc has a recovery system in it for such instances.  I have taken note of the instructions from the link you gave me

Will post the outcome when Ive decided best practice

Ok so played and tinkered and read and lamented.  I have now fixed my problem of not seeing My Pc or drives, and not being able to control File explorer. I shuddered at the thought of downloading Norton tool to remove the remanence of its presence on my pc and upsetting it but was successful in the operation.
I went in to user settings and changed them to me my self I. ..Microsoft account,
I right clicked the icon for File explorer on Windows,  and right clicked again on file explorer when it showed from the results.  Kai Pai there it was all good to go....My Pc and File explorer. ( hey might not have been me. or Acer, or Microsoft) or the removal of Norton?

I am happy to say that my sad journey has ended in one happy elated senior woman all for the substance of perserverance.

Thank you out there for your help brummyfan2.  No re boots, major uninstalls, etc
