Well, if you wonder all your downloads come from Windows update, so press Windows and i and always make sure that you've the latest Windows updates installed.

Other than that, I do not think you need anything or even DirectX as it is included. To edit 4K videos, you probably will need a good video editor. Adobe Premiere Pro is what I recommend for that. Sony Vegas Pro 13 is also absolutely immaculate.

Just make sure that both nvidia and intel graphics drivers are updated. You can download the latest from  http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk and https://downloadcenter.intel.com.

Sometimes the latest driver might perform worse than the previous one, so might need to downgrade.

Usually all driver updates are managed by windows, so you don't need to go around the websites and download them. Nvidia and Intel graphics drivers usually are a bit outdated when updated from windows, so it is better to install them manually.

    Acer's driver download page
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Thanks for your reply. Is there a big difference between 1.13 and 1.14? I find I have updated to the 1.14 version... Can I get it back to 1.13 version?

If you experience sluttering and fps drops unlike the previous driver, that means you have  to downgrade.

More on the latest BIOS for G9-793 here:

    https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/543063/heavy-performance-drops-since-bios-update#latest

It may be possible to downgrade the BIOS, equally more complex. Only thing likely to be negatively effected by the Spectre & Meltdown update is NVMe drives.
