Games lagging when plug out charger

Am using Acer Predator Helios 300 last one month onwards. if I playing games on connecting charger in to power games playing fine with no lags. but if I disconnect the charger the game is lagging. I did lot of things but the problem not rectify. please give the solution to rectify my problem...

    When the laptop is not plugged in the power limit of the CPU and GPU is reduced by around 50%. You won't experience lags during browsing and watching videos, as these are simple tasks. You will notice that when you are simple tasking the CPU and GPU will reach their normal clock speeds(you can use HWiNFO). The moment you start playing an AAA game you will find out that both CPU and GPU will work at around half of their max frequency. The reason fo this is that the power limit is reduced. I redid some of the test I did when I first purchased the laptop.

    While gaming plugged in

    While not plugged in/gaming


    Look at the average and max values. The average power used by the GPU is twice as less compared to when it is plugged in, it wasn't able to reach nowhere near the max frequency of the GPU and the average frequency is again cut in half. The reason why the average GPU load is higher when not plugged in, is because of the lower power limit. The CPU managed to keep max frequency, and the difference in power consumption isn't almost not existent(I will try with a stress test later).

    ALL TESTS ARE DONE ON HIGH PERFORMANCE SETTINGS FROM NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL AND WINDOWS.

    Most likely the reason why the power limit is reduced when the laptop is not plugged in is, because it won't be able to provide enough voltage to keep the CPU and GPU running at 100% or it may be able to feed the CPU and GPU at the beginning. As the charge(of the battery) drops the voltage also drops and after some time when the charge is fallen enough, the voltage will won't be enough to keep the components running and the system will crash/shutdown. You can observe in HWiNFO how the battery's voltage drops as the battery is discharging.

    This is most likely set from BIOS to ensure system stability when the machine is not plugged in. Also with such high power consumption from the CPU and GPU(mainly), including display and other components too, the battery will be drained within around 30 minutes.

    Just tried with Prime95 and CPU's frequency and power consuption stay unchanged when the system is not plugged in. It seems that the GPU is the only componet that is with reduced power consumption when not plugged in.

    Forgot to mention, the game run with the fps cut in half while not plugged in. It is isn't lag that you are experiencing just reduced fps. If you want to play on battery power only, you should reduce the texture settings and resolution of the game.

    -GPU

    One question 24 hours am plugging the lap with charger from this my laptop get anything happen like heating or battery or will be damage my laptop components like motherboard ??? if anything happen if i plugged the charger via playing games on whole day?????
    The laptop will heat up more when plugged in, because of the higher power consumption of the GPU, which mean more heat generated. Playing on the laptop while plugged in is how the laptop is designed to work. It won't cause any damage to the components.

    Set your power options to high performance both with and without charger plugged in. However, many laptops will automatically throttle CPU speed when charger is disconnected to save battery. Jack E/NJ

    Anyway but the lag is only drop when am playing game only with unplugged. if i surfing internet or seeing movies there is no problem. and one question 24 hours am plugging the lap with charger from this my laptop get anything happen like heating or battery will be damage???

    I believe this is will all Acer gaming laptop as this was with mine. but you can go on the nvidia settings and change this so there is no fps cap with unplugged charger

    I dnt know how to set fps setting in nvidia control please describe brifly about that. Another 1 question if i playing games continuously with plugging charger it will defect my lap components or battery???

    Go into nvidia experience and turn off battery boost and this should get rid of the fps cap as it worked for me
