Recently got acer predator helios 300 G3-571

I downloaded Dishonoured 2 PC Demo on Steam. Played the game. In no time the laptop started heating up and Screen Tearing was happening. The keys gets warm and specially the silver portion above the keys gets really hot.

NOTE :- Cool Boost is ON. I have already updated my bios to latest i.e Version: 1.05 and also updated latest nvidia graphics through there website.

Please help else I will have to return the laptop. I hope there is some fix.

I don't want to say this but better return it back, except if you are willing to change the thermal paste and undervolt the CPU, or send for repair(which you should not do as the laptop is brand new, so returning it is a better option over sending it for repair).

What temperatures do your CPU and GPU reach?

Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Screen Tearing has been fixed Though. I installed Nvidia Driver from acer's website.

But still CPU Reaching 84°C Max and GPU About 68-70°C Max,

CPU reached 83°C Even while starting Counter Strike : Global Offensive and was at 83-84°C Max when I was playing Dishonored 2 PC , FAN Speed remains at around 3800-4400 approx.

Is this normal?? At an ideal state when the processor is showing 2%-9% use in predator sense the temperature remains 49°C min - 61 max°C , Fan speed is set to AUTO and remains at speed 2800-3000 rpm approx

84C temperature, while gaming is not bad at all, considering that other predator users record temperatures of 97C on the CPU before repasting.

If you are not happy with the CPU temperatures you can undervolt it and that will drop your temps with about 5C.

The temperatures of the GPU are excellent.

but the keys does feel warm and the plate above keys is pretty hot. I haven't played for long. This test was just playing for 10mins or so. Is this normal in all other brands too?? Isn't the cooling in these laptop suppose to work better? I do understand undervolting might help in cpu temp a bit but it's such a pain to do so before gaming everytime.

Once you undervolt it you don't need to undervolt it again every time you restart the laptop with throttle stop.

Keyboard getting hot is a normal thing for this laptop. You can look for some reviews online and see that it is normal.

Ppl are complaining that there machine wouldn't turn on after few days. Have seen mixed reviews. That's why I am confused. Once the return window is over I won't be able to return it.

One more thing, the charging port seems to be weird and stiff. Adapter won't go inside easily like other laptops which are generally very smooth. Is that okay???

I have one thing to recommend since I am currently playing dishonored 2 as well. I noticed that for every game, when Vsync is ON, the temperature for both CPU and GPU decreases around 10C. Before, I played CSGO with Vsync Off, CPU temperature reaches around 80-90C. But when I turned it on, It decreased to around 70C and reaches around 80C for a second. For Dishonored 2 the temperature stays at 60-70 with Vsync On. I hope it helps

Yes putting V-sync on will eliminate these screen tearing issues as well as cap the framerate at your refresh rate. No sense pumping out more frames than the computer can display because it will provide excess heat etc (unless you are playing CS:GO where more frames is better). Undervolt your CPU and your temps should be brought down quite a bit.

The charging port is stiff and I've noticed this in other Acer laptops  (it feels like the charger has to be in a specific position to go in) so it isn't something bad or wrong per se (the USB ports are really stiff and grabby also as you may have noticed already).

Try CPU Undervolting start with core voltage offset -100mv till as far as you can push it without a system crash , I have seen people undervolting their laptop till -125mv also , this should solve your heating issue
