i5-8250 1.6ghz
8gig ram
mx150 geforce

Loaded up CS:GO this evening and my laptop temps spiked upto 99 degrees C just a couple minutes into the game. My laptop is not even a month old, should I be taking this back in to get it looked at on warranty??

This definitely is a sign of poorly applied thermal paste. I would suggest you to contact the retailer and return the laptop if it is still under the return policy, if not contact Acer.

Meanwhile what is your CPU's usage(in %), when the temperatures are so high?
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

I am not sure of actual % of usage when the temperatures spiked.

You can run the game again for sometime and post back here the average and max temperature of the CPU and GPU. Make sure after you run the game that you minimise it and reset the timer of HWiNFO before beginning to play.

Temperature spikes are normal, especially they will be quite frequent with the type of cooling system that the laptop has. Your average temperatures a far from high, so there is nothing to worry about. To reduce the temperatures you can undervolt the CPU with XTU or Throttlestop. Begin with setting the adaptive voltage to -100mV and then reduce it by -5mV with each step until the system crashes. Reboot and set to the last value the system was stable on. Make sure that you have a stress test(AIDA64 or Prime95) running, while undervolting.

How to use throttlestop video guide.
