Why is my E5 575 randomly shutting down?

Since day 1 of owning this machine it has randomly shut down, sometimes after only 10 minutes of use. It isnt an over worked machine, so no overheating. It is 14 months old now, it went back to Acer at 11 months under warranty, they informed me there was no fault, even though it continues to randomly shut down. Does anyone else have this issue? Has anyone found a cure for this issue?

If you leave it running in Windows with the screen on but don't use, move or otherwise touch it, does it still shutdown. Jack E/NJ

Don't know to be honest, I shut it down when I've done with it. It's not hibernating, if that's your train of thought.

No, not my train of thought. You see, there's a safety switch on the mainboard that is sometimes triggered by pressure or lack thereof on the case. If you're typing away or using the touchpad you might accidentally activate the safety switch and the machine will either turn off or reboot. So my  question remains, if you leave it running (no sleep, no hibernate) in Windows with the screen on and desktop show but don't use, move or otherwise touch it, does it still shutdown? The fix is simple but requires opening the case. Probably not worth doing this if it shuts off without even touching the laptop. Jack E/NJ

Yes, just put it down for a second and it will shut off, don't have to be typing.

OK. Then just put the laptop down on a table with the lid opened up. Then carefully press the power button only to turn it back on. Don't move, lift up, put down, touch or otherwise breathe on the laptop after pressing the power button. Does it stay on then? Jack E/NJ

Would this be a similar issue for the Aspire?  I have been trying to negotiate with Acer regarding a refund for my 2 month old Aspire as if it is unplugged it shuts down, regardless of being touched.  No issues if plugged in.  Acer refusing to assist.

@ZWalpole Probably not the same issue. Depending on your model number, there may be a battery reset hole on the bottom. Insert a paper clip into the hole for about 5 seconds to reset the battery. If it doesn't work, get your machine's serial number id (SNID). Then go here https://www.acer.com/ac/en/AU/content/service-contact  to  arrange for warranty service because it's probably too late to try to get a vendor refund. Jack E/NJ
