Big Variation of Temp after Repaste my Helios 300

Hello everyone,

I decided to repaste my helios 300 with the Kryonaut paste.
But after a few test to see if everything is ok I saw that the temp oscillated to much : on  intel XTU I had 66-67 and after 80 (just one time) and this repeated again during all the stress test.
Maybe something wring with the temp sensor.

After, I played BF1 to see what I get in game and I was really chocked to see that my cpu temp goes to 95°C even if I repasted my laptop. And again I had this oscillation of temp (82 to 95 during my game)

I also change the thermal pad but I don't think it's the problem.

So if you can help me fix that I will be very thankful
please

What temperature problem were you having that you felt re-pasting would fix? Jack E/NJ

You didn't explain the problem very clearly. I assume that what you want to say is that on the XTU stress test the CPU reaches 67C, but while gaming it reaches 95C. If that is the case, then it is normal to get hotter during gaming sessions, because now you have a second component that is generating even more heat and it is the GPU.
Make sure that while gaming the fan speed is turned to max from predator sense and also make sure the vents underneath aren't blocked. It is preferable to use a cooling pad, even if it doesn't have fans, because the laptop isn't getting enough airflow and more than 50% of the air sucked from underneath is already hot. Having a cooling pad will reduce that and improve your temperatures. If you have already done that, then it is likely that the repasting wasn't successful and you need to repaste again.

NOTE: It is normal for CPU temperature to spike up and down, so what you need you look for is the average temperature. If it is around 80C and doesn't go higher than 85C, then there is no need for repaste.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

I was reaching over 95°C when I played BF1, this caused cpu throttling. So, I send my pc to Acer but they didn't improve a lot the heat dissipation, this is why I decided to change in my own the thermal paste. Do you think that a Conductonaut paste is compatible with the helios 300 ? Maybe it can help

Sorry, my english is not perfect but if you have some questions don't hesitate to ask.
I use a cooling pad I will try to put my fan speed to max to see if it really change something
I put some picture maybe you will see better my problem:

This is what I was talking about the temp - the oscillation between 65 and 80

Here you have the evolution of temp during the stress test on XTU

I believe that you will normally see such a fluctuation with the XTU stress test.  Try Prime95 small FFT as this will apply an extremely high constant load.  Just use it for the data you need as Prime95 is an extreme performance test of the CPU.  Temperature will rapidly rise to the maximum and the CPU throttle unless the cooling solution is very strong.

Hi! I created the thermal repaste video.

When you repasted did you change the thermal pads?

If so... did you be sure to change to 1.0mm and 1.5mm pads as required?

If not then you most likely either have created gaps or lessened the gaps.

    Please advise.

    @Red-Sand
     hi !
This is maybe the reason because I only use a1.5 mm pad...
Do you know where to put the 1.0 mm ? :)

    thank you !

    Hi !
Thank you for your help I will try your suggestion.
Like @Red-Sand said the problem in maybe in relation to the thickness of the pad that I used.

Unfortunately cannot recall which pads go where... when I was removing then i inspected them

    No problem my friend :)
You said that you made a video about the repaste, it's the video from the channel Hotel Hero on youtube ?
And the last question after that I will stop bothering you ahah : Do you think if I use only 1mm is a good idea ? (Normally we will have more pressure on the cpu and gpu)

I used to play FIFA 19 and other games for hours on my Acer predator Helios 300, but now it starts to throttle after only a single match in FIFA and the temperature shoots upto 96°C. What should I do? Please Help.

Ankit221997 if it was previously working fine your solution its to repaste it with kryonaut or similar and clean fans and just in case if you havent done it before even if so re-do it again optimize windows also if you havent done it already undervolted it with TS also this thread has more than 1 and half year old a lot has changed since then

If my answer fixed you issue please accept it for any other users who search for it would find it quickly thanks :)
