m.2 SSD "kills" Aspire R5 571T

1) Acer tech said "any m.2 SSD card that fits should run"; bought m.2 SSD*
2) Installed m.2 & laptop "dead" .. no Acer boot logo, no Win 10, not even a power/charge LED when plugged in
3) Pulled m.2 ... laptop still "dead"
4) Pulled battery, pressed reset 30 secs; then booted to Win 10 via mechanical HDD
5) Suggestions, anyone?

Aspire R5 571T 57Z0; Mobo=Acer Megatron_SK; Chipset=Intel Kaby Lake-U Premium PCH; BIOS= ver 1.06 (6/22/2016)

    Thanks to all for diagnostics /suggestions

    RMA'd bad m.2 & ordered WD Blue m.2 SSD*
    Installed m.2 & 8GB RAM; then clean installed Win 10 with no issues
    Runs great now

    Hi,
    Give this a try, remove memory modules and HDD, try booting, leave it to rest for a while, then insert memory modules and HDD, carry out the battery reset.

    If it works properly without the drive then I would put the drive into a USB adapter like  this  (note: I am not sure this this the right adapter for your drive - need to check that it fits) and see if it can be detected that way. Also you might look at this note. Keep in mind you might have a bad drive.

    Make sure that the screws are hand tighten at the back cover.

    As indicated in original post I did try combinations of pulling battery, pushing reset button, and pulling RAM (just in case it was involved somehow)
    Absolutely NO laptop function whatsoever with m.2 SSD installed
    re "initializing disk" - you can do NOTHING re Disk Management if laptop won't begin to boot, much less start Windows!
    Appreciate the suggestion of hand-tightening case screws ... but after the 5th time I had to re-open case, got very, very tiresome!

    FYI - despite expired warranty finally got someone at 'Acer Support' (NOT actually Acer, BTW!) to list compatible 'Acer' proprietary m.2 SSDs, but of course they're rare as hen's teeth, and very pricey as [used] pulls:
    Samsung KN.2560B.021
    Toshiba KN.2560A.006
    Lion KN.2560L.012

    M.2 SSD now RMA'd to NewEgg seller, after Sandisk support told me "that [Sandisk] P/N is an OEM (proprietary) SSD which we cannot support. You'll have to go to the laptop manufacturer for support"   ARRRRGH!!

    Samsung EVOs are very good SSDs. I have a 2.5-Inch SATA III  EVO in my R3 and is running over 480 MB/s.

    [1] (despite expired warranty/SNID hoop-jumping) tech willing to discuss m.2 issue informed me "we're not Acer, but a separate company providing technical services"  
    [2] After providing P/N on m.2, Sandisk Support said, "that's an OEM card and we don't provide any support or information about it; You'll have to contact computer manufacturer for support"  Yeah, I know - weird! Same tech provided the "compatible m.2 cards" I listed above, all of which appear to be same made-for-Acer proprietary cards based on "KN.2560x.0xx" designation pattern & fact they're mostly only available at Ebay as "pulls" [pricey, too!]

    Hope that clarifies!

    padgett Looking at 860 EVO (last non-PCIe/NVMe Samsung m.2 SSD) but awaiting Samsung to confirm compatibility. Hoping JackE is right about having gotten a bad Sandisk card.
