First, can you tap the F2 key into the BIOS menu from a cold boot? Check the BIOS info tab. Is the HDD fully identified with its serial number, etc? Jack E/NJ

Sorry, I can't use your link. Does it show any HDD properties at all, mfr, size, anything to indicate that it's detected by the BIOS? Jack E/NJ

Wrong BIOS tab. I need to see the BIOS Information tab, not the BIOS boot tab. Also I need the full ACER model number --- Aspire e15 is not the full model number. Windows 8.1 does not seem to be the factory-installed Windows version. Did you change it from Windows 7? Jack E/NJ

The BIOS does not detect a hard disk drive. It's either loose and needs to be re-seated on the motherboard connector or it has failed. Google "e5-571g" "disassembly" "hdd" with the quotes for videos on how to remove and re-seat the drive to clean its contacts with the motherboard. Report back with results. Jack E/NJ
