I'm interesting in adding a second hard drive and an SSD drive. I was hoping to use the secondary hard drive from my previous rig, but there was no space in which to put it.

Does Acer have a sales or tech department with whom I can make inquiries? In particular, what kinds of models are recommended, and would I need external drives instead of being able to install internal ones.  If internal ones are available, I'm hoping installation instructions are included, most particularly where in the chassis I can put the parts.

If anyone here knows, I'm all ears.

Again, my computer is an Aspire GX-785-UR18.

    Hi, Holly,
Although I'm still waiting for my new GX-785-UR18 to arrive in the mail, I already purchased a 1TB SSD and 2 x 16GB DDR4 RAM sticks to upgrade my memory.  I'm not sure why you would want a 2nd drive.  1) you can get a brand new SSD with A LOT more capacity (like Samsung 860 EVO 4TB) and 2) if the data on your hard drive is important, you can always clone your old drive.  Nonetheless, you can go to Crucial website and they will give you comparable SSDs for your PC (or just use this link http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for//aspire-gx-785-ur18 ).  You can also get the same info from Kingston (here's their link https://www.kingston.com/us/memory/search?DeviceType=2&Mfr=ACE&Line=Aspire&Model=96105 ).

You can do a similar search from other SSD manufacturers like Samsung, SanDisk, etc.

Installing a SSD in place of HDD will need some parts (cables and brackets), but both Crucial and Kingston have kits available.

You can research videos online on how to install a SSD, clone drive, etc.

Lastly, if all of this is too much/too expensive/too complicated, you can always just get external drive and plug it in via a USB.

I hope this helps and good luck.
