I have posted this on the google chromebook support but they have told me to contact Acer.

Hi,

I have unboxed a: Acer Chromebook 11 C730 today.
To start, when plugged into power and turned on, the screen was constantly flickering and displaying the message that the OS is missing, and to please insert a recovery USB stick or SD Card.

I downloaded the recovery utility on another laptop and plugged it in to install, this allowed me to proceed and log in with my google account however the flickering did not stop. I have tried turning off and on but with no luck. The flickering is always present. I have since reloaded on USB again to no luck.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong, or should I return it? Is there anything I can try?

Cheers,

Sure sounds like a hardware issue to me, take it back and swap or contact Acer support for a repair.

I agree with Billsey. But if it were me, I'd return it to the vendor as defective for a refund or replacement ASAP cuz a warranty repair takes longer. Jack E/NJ
