Hello,

I've bought Aspire 5 A515-51G laptop recently, but I have a problem with sound. After some time of using, the laptop is starting to produce some weird static sounds whenever I'm playing some video, something from Spotify and it doesn't matter if speakers/headphones are connected - the result is the same.

I have windows 10 pro fully updated. I tried reinstalling the driver, but it didn't help. I also tried sound troubleshooting, but also without results. The problem keeps coming back.

So, is there any suggestion to fix this problem. Thank you in advance.

You can try downloading the realtek driver available from Acer. If it doesn't fix the issue install the generic driver from realtek's website. If none of these fixes the issue, remove the driver completely, restart the pc and let windows install the driver.

If the problem still occurs, you can try updating the BIOS. Download the latest BIOS from BIOS/Firmware. Before executing the installation, make sure the battery is fully charged and laptop connected to AC. During the installation the system may restart several times.

After updating the BIOS, repeat the first solution:

'You can try downloading the realtek driver available from Acer. If it doesn't fix the issue install the generic driver from realtek's website. If none of these fixes the issue, remove the driver completely, restart the pc and let windows install the driver.'

If there is no joy, I would suggest you to contact your retailer and ask for a replacement(if you are still under the return policy) or contact Acer and request a repair of your device. The problem most likely is with the hardware. 3rd option is to wait for someone else to post a better solution, which might or might not work.

Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Perhaps relevant, perhaps not, another user recently observed that if two audio programs were loaded in memory at the same time --- one being in pause mode, the other being played --- the paused program seemed to interfere with the audio output of the other program being played. The solution was to shut down both and load only the one to be played in memory. Jack E/NJ

Yet another user has just reported that if two Win10 desktops are running at the same time, the audio issues seem to reapperar. Jack E/NJ

I have the same problem with my Acer Aspire 5 A515-51-531Z, crackling sound from speakers and earphones when I play some thing in Youtube. This problem is gone temporarily after I restart laptop. After few hours this issue is back. I called customer care, uninstalled the audio drivers as they mentioned but the problem is back again. I called acer customer care 2nd time, this time they asked me to reset the laptop to factory settings. After resetting the problem is same again :( .
They asked me to send my laptop to get it repaired as I have 90 days software warranty (they have mentioned that they are not responsible if there is any physical damage in transit and I have to pay for the repair as well).

    Hello.
I had a similar problem with my acer a515-51G and I tried the link below. To be precise, I changed the sound format and it worked! If that doesn't work, you have 3 more options to choose.
