Hello everyone,
A friend has asked me to attempt to fix their laptop; i'm drained for ideas/potential fixes for what the issue could be; however I have a dreaded feeling its a damaged RAM slot. The laptop was purchased around 18 months ago and no longer in warranty of any kind. The laptop light will turn on for around 5 seconds and turn off for around 5 seconds; this is repeated multiple times. I have tried everything listed below:
  • Removed battery; attempted to use just wall charger
  • removed wall charger; attempted to start just on battery
  • Remove CMOS battery and reset it
  • Disconnected all elements from the MB; hard-drive, dvd drive, screen, fan and RAM.
The laptop fan only starts up when the RAM is removed and the light no longer blinks as previously stated, it now remains constant. This made me think the issue lied with the RAM. So i tried another 2 sticks of RAM from laptops i have which work and my friends laptop reverted to blinking on and off; which makes me think its an issue with the RAM slot.
Does anyone else have any suggestions before I stripe the laptop.
Thank you in advance :)

Edit: Laptop only has 1 ram slot

Make sure the test RAM modules from the other laptops are 1.35v DDR3 at least 1.6 GHz. Jack E/NJ
