Went from 75% updated to 81%, then totally froze - it’s been over an hour. Says don’t turn off PC, etc.
I’ve kept it up to date til now, although it’s 5 yrs old. What should I do?

If it's been over an hour, I would say, just shut down the computer by holding the power button. Give it about 20-30 seconds and then turn the computer back on. See if it resume with the update (normally it should) and see if it goes through this time.

Are you trying to install windows 10 update?
Restart your computer and check if the updates is proceeding further.
If any issue persists, you may disable the windows 10 update since  i see that the device hardware is not compatible with windows 10.

Let us know the status of the issue. We will be glad to assist you further.

You cannot disable the upgrade - it's being pushed from Microsoft over and over again. I had a similar issue, I could fix it by removing the PCI-E wifi card and replacing it by a more recent USB one from D-Link.

I don’t think it was doing an upgrade, it said it was just updating, then it got stuck while doing so. I took Sobe’s advice and just did a full shut down. When I restarted it, it seemed fine, said I was all up to date...okay then, I guess I’m set! I appreciate everyone who tried to help!
