Aspire 5551-2036 Wireless connection not connecting to 5ghz

My acer laptop only connects to my cable modem at 2.4g.  The cable modem has 5ghz is available, how do i connect to the 5ghz speed with this aspire?  My laptop has wireless lan : 
 Acer Nplify 802.11b/g/n according to Acer. But laptop says broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter...how do i update the driver or how do i get a higher speed connection?

    Did you split the frequency? If so, then you need to split it first, if you've split it, does other devices detect the frequency?

    my cable modem from spectrum has 5ghz and 2.4ghz wireless connections available. How can i connect wireless to 5.4ghz only on my acer aspire 5551-2036 ?
