Is this something of importance as the computer works ok, I get conflicting anwers. Anything from must have it to disable it,also mainly for advanced users. I believe when i was on the network sharing center  i disabled this and the uninstalled it,  this was when i changed over to new router.this was done by mistakingly thinking i was removing old router.

It's what hooks you to your network if using a wired connection instead of wifi....so you can access internet, etc...

Don't disable it. It doesn't cost you anything with respect to memory or performance to leave it in and if you ever need faster internet access, all you have to do is plug an ethernet cable into your home router and the other end into the ethernet jack in your pc and disable wifi on your PC and it'll automatically switch to the wired connection which is 1000 times faster than wifi.....

    Good Luck.
