High temps while gaming

I have a Predator 15. It is on an elevated cooling pad on a hard surface but while gaming I see cpu temps of 95 degrees C. Is that too high and if it is what more can I do? Can't find my frost core and I have heard that they don't help much if any. Thanks.

The CPU temperature is quite high. Anything below 85C average is considered normal for a gaming laptop, while gaming. You can try undervolting the CPU with XTU or Throttlestop, which is likely to reduce the temperature to low 80's.

Start with reducing the voltage by 100mV(0.100V) and keep reducing it by 5mV until the system crushes. Reboot and set the voltage to the last value the system was stable on. You have to have a stress test like Prime95 running while undervolting.

A video showing how to use Throttlestop.

Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Hello. I was browsing here to look for a solution to the same problem. I have a predator 17 with a i7 7700hq and gtx 1060. When i play games like League of Legends i have a stable temperature of 60 C on the CPU. However i am currently playing Assassin's Creed Unity on Medium settings. FPS is good, performance is amazing even if i set it to very high. Problem was i had temperatures of 85-90 C. However mate, listen to the second comment. Undervolting with this software solved my problem. Now i am playing AC with the same performance but CPU temperature does not exceed 80 C. If that does not work as well it could be a problem with the laptop's cooling system itself. Good luck!

It may be worthwhile to pull the bottom cover/shell of the laptop to see if your CPU/GPU heat sink is affixed correctly.

I just got my brand new G3-571 today and CPU and GPU temperatures were sky high. I decided to replace the sloppy thermal paste and not waste the time doing a return/exchange through Amazon. When I got in there, I found TWO missing screws; one of the fan mounting screws, and shockingly, one of the graphics card heat sink screws. Half of the GPU had basically no contact with the heat sink, as evident by there being no thermal paste whatsoever on 80% of the GPU.

If you are comfortable doing so, that might be a good thing to check. Otherwise, Acer owes you a new unit.
