    System updates shows nothing new available, but the latest security patch version is from December 2016. Is it possible to install a more recent Android security patch or is this tablet stuck with whatever was installed at the factory?

      if no system update is available...you are stuck at December 2016.

      That's what I feared but thanks for confirming. Good excuse to switch to newer tablet with better support.
