  • Hi,
Download CPU-z and run it, go to SPD tab and find out the model already installed in your laptop.

I have the same laptop (bought a few days ago) and planning to upgrade also.

    the ram installed is 4GB 1600mhz DDR3L.

I'm not sure what brand, so my question is can I install a 4GB ram with the same speed, latency but different BRAND? for example Crucial RAM with my existing RAM?

And one more question, just in case, Can I install 8GB ram (same speed, latency) + the existing RAM 4GB? is it ok to have a 12GB RAM?

Crucial is guaranteed to run with your existing DDR3L up to the advertised maximum limit. However, your BIOS might recognise and use more than the max but is not guaranteed. Jack E/NJ

Thank you, then I'll buy the Crucial RAM.

I'm sorry I did not get the last part, tell me if I understand it correctly. So if I install a 8GB RAM with my existing 4GB RAM, my BIOS will probably used the larger size of the RAM which is the 8GB?

    Hi,
It will use whole 12GB memory.

jqueryman---Your machine will see and use both 4GB + 8GB = 12GB OK  because it's less than the advertised maximum of 16GB. Jack E/NJ
