2 computers with the same problem. Reset battery and it went black. 4 months out of warranty. Microsoft tech helped for 2 hours on the phone then had me drive 1.5 hours away, dropped them off, waited a week, picked them pack up, they said they would send it to the depot but it would be a month before I would know if it was fixable and how much it would cost. I said no. Took my paperweights to a local tech and he has advised, motherboard is good, watch battery was replaced, mother board was showing transmission errors because it is stuck in the middle of a bios update, hard drive was wiped with a magnet, no viruses.

I think it would be nice to pin a post warning users to disable windows driver updates! These driver updates, esp bios ones, are screwing up more than just the OS. And this isn't just Acer only issue. Windows/MS will not change their tactics, so as a community, we need to have this at pinned post level so users can do this.

This has been happening for awhile now and as always my advice is disable windows update permanently as microsoft is trying to force all manufacturers to add all the updates to their own updates and that will screw everything up especially when it comes regarding bios updates as windows update doesn't flash it properly (doesnt have that function as the normal bios update software has) and will get it bricked 90% of the times this is all microsoft's fault not manufacturers as they are forcing them to do it in order to be able to ship their machines with their OS cheaper so blame MS and yes as @sri369 said this issue should be pinned to warn everyone.

@Acer-Manny could some kind of warning be issued as a pinned thread/post regarding bios updates and other through windows update and what to do to avoid it and if possible a way to force flash/repair the bios via usb drive or something like we used to have the ability to flash the bios via dos in the old days with afudos, i think this would save a lot of work and headache to acer repair centers regarding this issue if the users could fix it themselves locally after all in my view its just re-flashing the bios to get it back working again anyway its just my opinion :)

Hi, you can try to do a BIOS recovery.

    Here's the procedure for a Predator G9-591:

First of all, download the following file (BIOS 1.11 with the correct recovery name): drive.google.com/file/d/1zsz6F6HonvnlDbOJMHi6OzpncW4GkwFX/view
    Then, do the following steps:

    1. Copy the BIOS file to an empty and with FAT16/32 formatted usb stick.
    2. Unplug the AC adapter.
    3. Plug in the USB flash disk.
    4. Press and hold <Fn> and <Esc>, and then plug in the AC adapter while still holding <Fn> and <Esc>.
    5. Press the Power button. You can now stop holding <Fn> and <Esc>.
    6. The BIOS flash should now begin, the fan will spin up and the power led should change its state.
    7. After everything is done, the notebook will shut down.

In case you have another model, please post your model here, so I can have a look.
I know this is old... but I have a G5-793 and I cannot seem to get the bios flash to work. I cannot figure out which files I need to put on the flash. If this pops up I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
