Why does Acer refuse to fix my laptop?

I bought an ES-553G-1986 in Febraury, and it's been randomly restarting for no reason straight out of the box. It keeps happening, and Acer tells me to keep doing the same things: reinstall Windows, update the BIOS, send it in to allegedly get it fixed, they send it back to me and it still restarts for no reason. I asked for a replacement laptop, and Acer refuses. They sold me a defective laptop and they won't do anything that will solve the problem. Nothing they recommend has worked. It's time to replace my laptop with something that works! No more Acer computers for me!

What methods have you tried so far to re-install Win10? Jack E/NJ

I reinstalled the OS myself using Windows' internal mechanism. When I received my laptop back from the repairer, I noticed they reinstalled it as well. Don't know how exactly they did it.

Does this mean that you haven't yet tried the ALT+F10 coldboot eRecovery method that works outside of Windows? Jack E/NJ

That's not the method I used. Not sure about the repair center. I don't see how it would be any different than the other OS re-installs that have been done (at least 3 as far as I can remember).

The ALT+F10 coldboot method recovers the ACER-specific Win10 system to a factory-fresh state. If it still behaves the same way after this recovery method --- BUT BEFORE ANY AUTOMATIC WIN10UPDATES HAVE A CHANCE TO LOAD AND BE APPLIED --- it's most likely a hardware issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuljT0a8F7I

Why would I want to recover to the factory fresh state? The laptop was restarting straight out of the box.

How can you be sure that no auto updates were applied "right out of the box" last Feb? How many minutes or hours after the first boot into Windows in Feb did you notice that the machine was restarting on its own? Jack E/NJ

I don't remember. But if that worked, would I be stuck with the old version of Windows 10 permanently?

I am having the same issue with an Acer Desktop.  I have sent it in for repairs twice for random reboots.  They keep informing me to reinstall Windows, even though the ticket notes state that Windows has been reinstalled 3 times and they have already had the system in their repair shop twice and replaced the SSD.  This will most likely be my one and only Acer purchase as their technical support is lacking.  I feel your pain and wish you the best of luck!

Unfortunately due to significant changes in Microsoft's OS policies after Win8.1, some but not all Win10 upgrades and/or automatic updates seem to be causing serious subsystem driver issues with all the major mfrs. At the moment many of these driver issues remain unresolved. The only way around them for now is to re-install the factory-delivered WinVer. Some suggestions and info related to this OS problem can be found in this recent thread https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/534340/acer-es1-711-cant-not-install-windows-10 Sorry but it's hard to say how long this situation will persist Jack E/NJ
