I have an Aspire E5-575 laptop (4 months old) which I use mostly for navigate through the internet. After a couple of weeks this machine became too slow until the point that it is almost impossible to do something on it. For example when I click on the start bottom I have to wait some times until more than 30 seconds to open the window with the main menu. I feel like I am using a machine from 90's. By the characteristics of this machine I would expect it to have a decent performance. In addition, recently a tiny red dot appeared in the middle (bottom) of the screen. I am very disappointment with this purchase.

Any suggestion to solve these issues?
  • Hi,
Could you please post the details of your hardware, details of your memory, HDD etc. Have you checked whether fast start-up is enabled? Have you checked for any virus with Malwarebytes?
Go to Power Options, click choose what the power buttons do in the left pane, click Change settings that are currently unavailable and enable fast start-up.
Download Malwarebytes and scan for any infections.

Here are some details of my hardware:

    Processor: Intel Core i3-7100U Processor (2.4GHz, 3MB L3 cache)
    RAM: 4 GB DDR4
    Hard Drive: 1000 GB SATA
Graphics Coprocessor: Intel HD Graphics 620
    Wireless Type: 802.11 A/C
    OS: Windows 10

I am using the  built-in Windows Defender Antivirus on Windows 10

I have follow your recommendations and yes, "Turn on fast start-up" is enabled. I also have downloaded the Malwarebytes and scanned my and the results are "0 Threats detected"

Right now the machine is working well, but in any random time it becomes super slow and I have to restart it to continue to use it.

    Thanks

    Hi,
It's your HDD which makes it running slow, I would suggest you to get a smaller M.2 SSD, install the OS on it and use the HDD for Data, if you don't need too much space, you can replace HDD with a medium sized 2.5" SATA SSD.

    Hi brummyfan2,
I have some questions, why my HDD is making slow my system? Does this model (E5-575) supports a M.2 SSD and what capacity? I mean what size of SSD do I should to install?

    Thanks

    Hi,
Yes, you can install a M.2 SSD up to recommended maximum capacity of 256GB.

When it happens to me is because it is full of malwares, spywares and other wares. I usualy reformat the HD. MalwareFox also helps a lot.
Update drivers, sometimes works ( I use SlimDrivers frree)

I already scanned it with Windows Defender and Malwarebytes and supposedly it is not infected.
