Acer AO751h Crystal Eye Webcam Problems

I've had my Acer aO751h for several years now, and that being what it is, I'm not longer available for any type of support from Acer without paying a lot of money. I also don't plan on shipping it in to get fixed, either.

My problem is with the webcam. It's either dead or disconnected. Windows nor Linux will recognize it. Windows says "USB device not recognized," constantly, and I forget the Linux error, but it just repeats and repeats and repeats, the same with the Windows error.

Is it possible to just disconnect the webcam? Or is there any recommendation one of you might have?

I have the same problem as Rannday.  My Acer Aspire One AO751h has a built-in Crystay Eye webam, that is no longer recognized by Windows XP.  Ran the hardware recognition program in Control Panel with 0 results.  How to get the webcam working again?
