Hello, from the beginning of my purchase of this notebook, I still solve the problem that when I go to an internal graphics card, I do not have to worry about it, I can not use anything, especially when I right click on the desktop (I already wrote here on the forum) I removed the intel menu, the problem has disappeared, but the inaccuracies continue to show whether I browse the Internet or copy files. Drivers are all current when the application switches to geforce gtx 1060 inserts disappears completely. How do I fix this problem? Because the laptop has enough money with this, I'm not going to make it up. Thanks

  • Hi,
You could try few things, if you have any trial version AV programs installed, uninstall them, make sure you have Fast start up enabled, and use sfc /scannow to repair any damaged system files, if that doesn't help use Dism online Restore health command and run sfc /scannow again.

I have been experiencing these problems too (using Helios 300 like you). It is VERY frustrating. Now, when I open some program (Ex. google chrome, VS Code) mouse stutters for ~1 second. I suggest a workaround -- Forcing the GTX 1060 to be active all time using these steps, which also make the laptop "warm" all the time:
    - Open Nvidia control panel.
    - Navigate to "Adjust image settings with preview", you will see the "spinning Nvidia Logo" preview and GPU will be active.
    - Click "pause" button to stop the "spinning Nvidia Logo" to reduce GPU usage. (but GPU will still be active)
    - Minimize the control panel. (you need to Keep it open)

Also, I have tried reinstalling Windows (via Recovery in Settings menu) and updating BIOS. IT DIDN'T WORK, so I suggest you not to waste your time trying it.

By the way, I am deciding to return/resell this laptop now as I am not satisfied by it's "quality" -- lacking of 144Hz monitor support (I should have realized it earlier), these lagging, thermal design/problem, not to mention the stutter (periodically, screen literally freezes for almost 3 secs) in some games such as CSGO.

There is a simple way to fix the stuttering, and has been explained multiple times throughout the forums. And since it is an Intel Display driver problem with some of the stuttering, other laptops have this issue too (my old one did as well).

    Steps:

    1.      The easiest way to disable these is using the program ‘ShellExView’ that can be found here: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html

    2.      After launching the program, you will need to find the two items to disable. These both under the Extension Name ‘TheDeskTopContextMenu Class’ with the description ‘igfxDTCM Mod.’

    3.      Disable these two items.

    4.      Restart your computer

    5.      Let us know if it worked.

Check my thread i put the hotfix "helois-300-stutters-and-freezes-shellex-did-not-fix-it" basically download and run TrayPwrD3 and it will fix it. But this fix is temp untill intel makes the update to this bug

I recently purchased the Helios 300 17.3'' and I noticed horrible stutter and lag when opening firefox, chrome, or going to control panel. Play games were fine. But I get lag when opening programs. Even the right click menu were stuttering and lagging. Of course, that could be solved disabling the contextual menu and using the TrayPwrD3. Meh....

BUT.... after reading other forums, others informed that it was an issue with Windows Fall Creator 1709!
I managed to download Fall Creator 1703 and installed the nvidia and intel graphics driver from Acer website. There is no lag whatsoever. I'm using Fall Creator 1703 right now, and it's been smooth!

So until Intel and Microsoft get together to work on a fix for the Fall Creator update 1709 which per Intel community website, they are aware, then 1703 seems like the best option, or just use the TrayPwrD3.

You can check the version of Windows 10 you are using by going to Settings > System (display. notifications, power)> scroll down and look for  "About".

The problem is, since Windows is considered as a Service, it is pushing the Fall Creator 1709! argh!!!!
