Acer Aspire 5253 when turned on, takes a while to load bios?

So when I turn on my Acer Aspire 5253, I am greeted to this for like 5-10 minutes:

After the wait time, the Acer logo appears with the option to go into the bios.

Everything else is ok it seems, runs fine in Windows.

Is there a way on fixing this?

Thanks.

Seeing you haven't had a reply, I'm hoping you found a workaround on your own.

I've been trying to solve it for days - To no avail.

    Let me know. OK?

    Thanx.

Perhaps disabling or even uninstalling some unnecessary start up programs will alleviate this problem. This can be done by typing "msconfig" (without quotations) into the start menu search bar and selecting the menu item that appears. The system configuration window that pops up has a tab labeled start up, select that and see how many things fire up right when you turn on your computer. Verify through a search engine whether or not you need it to run on startup. This can be done by simply typing something like "do I need amazon tasktray application to run on start up?" and the results should tell you yes or no. You can also run a disk defrag and clean up as well as utilizing the tools in the control panel under System and Security such as find and fix problems.

Appreciate the prompt response, but was pretty much aware of those.

My problem is that it's not a couple minute delay, it takes a good HALF-HOUR!

    Can you believe it?

    Well, it's true.

If your computer has the ability to reinstall the operating system you could try that, or you may in fact have some bad hardware, probably your motherboard, in which case you can try and bake it in the oven (detailed directions online), purchase a new one or get the problem diagnosed by a computer tech (which is usually ridiculously expensive). If those don't sound too appealing I suggest externally backing up all your files next time you finally get to Windows, because who knows when it will be for the last time?

This problem cannot be solved by re-installing or doing anything at all to your operating system or programs.  I've noticed there are several BIOS updates on the acer support site that can be downloaded.  It's possible one of those could fix the problem, however I haven't tried it yet.  I just downloaded the latest one which is version 1.18 as of this message.  I saw another post on here that says someone got this problem when upgrading to 4GB of ram.  It could be a memory test issue when you have 2 RAM modules installed together.  You can open your computer and check if you do, and remove one of them and see if the problem goes away.  2GB will still allow your laptop to function and do what most people do, though 4GB is better.  I'm going to try the BIOS update first, then take out a RAM module if that doesn't work.

    Thank you for the info.

I appreciate and will give the suggestions a try.

In the meantime, please keep up posted on the results of your update and RAM module.

After flashing BIOS 1.18 (through Windows) I'm experiencing serious start-up problems. The BIOS doesn't want to load (top left corner cursor only) and the fan goes up full speed. Sometimes it loads on its own after 3-10 minutes, sometimes random button pressing helps to get into Windows logon screen or BIOS screen. Windows 7 starts normally when I finally make it to the logon screen and the fan goes off. Nothing changed as far as hardware is concerned. Memtest doesn't show any errors. Tried to switch between the graphic cards (Radeon 6310 / 6370M) but with it doesn't seem to help/ P.S. A couple of months ago I was experiencing problems with Windows not recognising the battery (unable to charge it) but suddenly those problems disappeared.

Funny but after removing two nano USB dongles (Logitech wireless keyboard and wireless mouse) the laptop now starts fine ! One needs to plug them once the booting is over and everything works OK. Really weird hardware...
