Acer Aspire V3-531 Booting problem

When it is turned on it makes clicking noises and hang on boot selection menu. The F2 or F12 keys do no work. The only key combination that works is alt+ctrl+del.

When I remove the hard disk and reboot it allows me enter BIOS setup (F2 key). On the BIOS screen none of the keys on the keyboard work except escape key. If I boot it with a bootable cd, it boots from it but the keyboard is frozen out.

Please help.

Try with an external USB keyboard, at least you will be able to test all the keys of the laptop keyboard once the OS is installed.

Too much issues, if you are under warranty give Acer support service a call.

Clicking HDD is a mechanic failure and keyboard not working can be a bad ribbon connector or cable.

Thank you IronFly. It is out of warranty. I did remove the hard disk and re-seated it. I removed the hard disk and managed to boot it from a cd  (Hiren's 15.2) but once the cd is booted the keyboard is frozen out.

@IronFly, how do I change post to different area. This post should be in 'Legacy Laptops and Netbooks' section?
    Thanks
