Hey Everyone,

I'd appreciate some help.

I have a one year old Acer Aspire S13 laptop.  After being in "sleep" or "hibernation" mode, I press the mousepad to start it up again and the screen turns black and starts flashing white lines.  I have tried updating the video driver, updating the touchpad driver, reverting back to an older version of Windows, changing the power/sleep/hibernation settings, and nothing has helped.  If you all have any other suggestions, please let me know.  Thanks.

    (1) What is the complete model number? (2) Is the machine unusuable or is it OK after re-booting? Jack E/NJ

Aspire S5-371T-72KV Signature Edition.  Yes, it works fine after rebooting.

We all had this too. Problems with coming back from sleep after a driver update by Intel. To confirm our problem only appeared about 2-3 months ago. The updated intel graphics driver and BIOS update to current does fix this problem but sometimes there are still lock ups after sleeping.

Yes, this might resolve the wakeup issue. But if it were my machine, I'd prefer to try to live with the annoyance for now and hope future automatic Win10 updates will fix the issue or at least not make it any worse. Unfortunately, it appears past Win10 updates have created many similar (and sometimes worse) issues with a broad spectrum of machines. If you notice the issues soon enough, like within a few days of the updates, you can often restore the system from a restore point before the update was made. PITS--It may be too late but open control panel. Search "restore point". If you recall the approximate date it started, then you can restore the machine to a date immediately prior. If not, I'd sit tight and hope a future Win10 update will fix the annoyance. As long as the machine re-boots OK, then try to avoid taking any more drastic measures that could possibly disable the machine. It's not worth the risk at this point. Win10 still has a lot of bugs that haven't been fixed yet. Be patient. Jack E/NJ

    JackE,
I dont remember the exact date the problem started. My win10 are updated yesterday, the drivers of the GPU are also up to date and still the problem goes on and on. Its very annoying for a new laptop which dates 1 year only!!! All of the sudden, boom, its stopped working normally. Is Acer aware of the problem? Will Acer cover other problems which will appear after so many forced reboots??

PITS---How far back do the restore points go? As far as I know, these types of issues for many manufacturers are related to very significant changes in Win10 update policies and departures from earlier versions. Right now, the only way to rule out (or rule in) a hardware-related failure, is to try to restore your machine to a factory-fresh Win10 state while saving your personal files. Jack E/NJ
