I have an external monitor connected to my Helios 300. I use it as the main display and not as extended. The problem I'm having is that the computer automatically uses the 1060 when I power the computer straight to using the external monitor. The intel icon doesn't appear like it does normally when booting the computer without the external monitor.

The computer will use the integrated graphics just fine if I boot using the laptop screen first and then connect the external monitor but I don't want to keep having to change the display settings every time I turn the computer on and off.

You can't use integrated graphics via HDMI port, as it is connected to the dedicated GPU.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Really? I guess the 1060 indicator is just buggy. Just booted with the regular screen and then connected the external monitor and the nvidia icon still shows the GPU as inactive.

    Thanks for your help.
