ACER 5552 constant freezing

To whom it may concern:

 

I have contacted ACER more than a few times about constant freezing since I purchased it in early 2011. To no avail. I am very disappointed in ACER for their lack of concern...(putting it lightly). I will never again purchase another ACER product of any kind and I will discourage any one else from purchasing ACER products.

    Hello gsmyers59. I could understand the frustration with the unit not working like it should think we have all had that moment in life with a computer not being too friendly lol, if you provided a little more info would love to see if we would be able to figure your issue out Smiley Happy

    I have this same unit, same problem. Even sent it back for repair, they changed the hard drive, still had the same problem. Did some research, discovered the Western Digital drives that Acer ship with this unit are *****. Swapped it out for an ADATA XPG SX900 ASX900S3-256GM-C SSD drive, problem solved. Laptop is fast as hell, NEVER freezes. If it is under warranty, I'd recommend telling Acer to give you a different brand/model hard drive, or just buy one yourself and do it yourself. I was about ready to throw the laptop out the window the freezing peeved me off so much, but now, with the new SSD drive installed, this thing runs like a champ!! Of course, I had to spend almost $200 for the new drive, that was my personal choice. Others should not have to do this. It's a good laptop it's just that dang hard drive issue. I have several Acer laptops in the house, it's the only brand I buy. They need to address the hard drive issue though... it's making them look bad.
