At power on I get a message "Your PC did not start correctly". At this point a "Restart" always works. I want to do a Reset, to reload Windows 10, but when I attempt this I get a message "Coud not find the recovery environment". Also can not create a USB recovery for the same reason. This is a new laptop and I'm just adding applications, and I've installed a Samsung Ev0 ssd, which is working fine. If I remove the Samsung, the system will not boot. I can continue to do a restart at power on, but I don't like to have to do that. Also, I need to be able to reload Windows 10 at some point. Thanks for any suggestions.

I was able to make a usb upgrade, but after re-installing Windows the power on issue is still present.  I have to do a restart every time I turn the pc off.  I would completely reload windows if I could.

I have contacted Acer customer support. Used the chat line. Acer is sending me a USB recovery drive. Remains to be seen if this works. I will update in a week or so.

Problem resolved.  The boot problem was created by cloning the original Acer SSD to the Samsung SSD.  I never should have done this, but I followed the directions on the provided Samsung SSD install DVD.  What I wanted was a backup storage drive.  The Samsung software changed the boot order, and made a lot of changes to Disk Management.  I first Acer support chat, was not productive, but the second chat was.  I was sent a USB HDD from Acer, which took a few days.  Instructions were included, but they gave F12 instead of F2 to get to BIOS, and didn't give F10 to exit and save.

    REBUILDING THE ACER LAPTOP

    Do a shutdown.

Removed the Samsung Evo 850 SSD.  This was the cause of my boot problems.

Insert the USB HDD provided by Acer

Power on and continuously press F2 to enter BIOS

Go to Boot menu and follow the instruction to change the boot order to USB HDD first.

    F10 to exit and save.

System goes to the Acer rebuild screen and after a couple OK’s it starts the rebuild process.

At one point it says to remove the USB HDD.  Than an OK starts the process.

The system goes through a process of 64 steps to rebuild.  Goes like 12/64 which is step 12 of 64.  After each step it seems to be loading drivers and than reboots.

    This took about 45 minutes.

At this point the screen looks like a new computer and you start to enter personal information.  Asks for Microsoft email and password.

For me it got to the MS cloud addition and the screen went black, but the mouse still moved.  I had to do a power off by holding the power key.

At the startup, it asked for the email and password again, but failed with try again later.  ??  It didn’t ask for wireless password again.

Than it looked for upgrades, found them, and started the Windows 10 upgrade process.  I think this took almost an hour……………………………………………………….

Than it went to “Working on Updates”  This may take awhile.  Another 30 minutes????

Questions about settings.  Said no to Cortina.  Than accepted.   Got the Windows 10 login screen,  than more updates……. Took a couple of minutes.  Than….!!!!!!  Welcome to best windows ever.   Was on the internet.  Xed out.  Got the normal Windows screen.  Yey!!!

At this point I was able to begin the process of loading programs and syncing to Google.

It took several days for a response, but Samsung did reply to my request on solving this problem.  I'm buying a USB adapter for the SSD and will format using another PC.  Than I will be able to use the SSD as a storage drive.  I won't be using the Samsung DVD!

    Wayne,

Apologies for the delay as there was technical maintenance on our end. If you did a clone from a Source Disk to a Target Disk (Samsung SSD in this case), you need to boot off the SSD at least once so the system knows that this is the new OS drive. Most newer BIOS systems will notice the new drive and always boot off the unit it recently booted off from. Now having both drives in the machine at the same time will cause an issue due to Matching Windows ID's. This doesn't happen all the time but may occur. This is a conflict in which users need to format there original drive either a SATA to USB Cable, Windows Install via USB/CD, or another system.

If you trying to simply make the SSD a storage unit then you can boot off the source disk and wipe the SSD model in Disk Management. However if your system prevents you from booting with both drives connected internally and you already tried to force boot the original disk with the SSD inside, then you would need to bring that SSD to an external SATA to USB cable or wipe it via Windows Install, or possibly another system.

I installed the EVO 250B SSD with the installation cd. The existing
Kingston SSD was cloned to the new Samsung SSD. After this the Samsung
SSD became Disk O and made the existing SSD Disk 1. It also changed
the boot order in BIOS to the Samsung first and Kingston (existing)
second. From a power off state to power on the PC does a Maintenance -
Diagnostic - and than give me a message " Your PC did not start
correctly" selecting Restart brings the system to the Desktop. I
changed the boot order in BIOS to see the original Kingston SSD first,
but it still doesn't power up correctly. In Disk Management everything
looks normal, but the Samsung is labeled Disk 0 and the Kingston Disk
    1. What I wanted was the Samsung SSD to be a storage drive. The
Samsung Magician software is useless. All it does is show the Samsung
SSD, but nothing else. How do I reverse this process to make the
Samsung a storage drive, with the PC back to factory? This is a new
Acer Aspire E15 E5-575G-57D4. I've contacted Acer and they are sending
me a USB with original software. I'm waiting for this, but not
confident that it will fix the problem.
When I try to do a System Reset from a USB it's no help. System Reset
from the boot up screen under Troubleshoot - Advanced options fails.
If I remove the Samsung SSD, even with the boot order changed in BIOS,
the power up fails and a Restart doesn't work. Any suggestions would
    be greatly appreciated.
